Nigeria Education is faced with myriads of challenges. As a result, education in Nigeria is ever-changing. The proliferation of Universities reflects this constant change in the educational system. There is not e nough space in the Universities to admit the large population of Nigerian Youths seeking admission.
The admission crises countenance to be one of Nigeria’s biggest challenges in the higher education considering the growth in the youth population. Presently, Nigeria’s system of education leaves a deficit of over a million qualified College-age Nigerians without access to post-secondary education annually. This implies that at the Tertiary level, especially university education, more and more graduating students from all Secondary Schools and old graduates, who have not secured admission, compete for the limited space available in Nigeria Universities.
Citiedge University is a private conventional University and shall run/offer programmes in Arts, Social Sciences, Engineering, Management Science, Communication and Media, Law, Earth and Environmental Studies, Agriculture, Sciences and Physical Sciences. The quest of the University is excellence and the quest for knowledge relevant to the growth and development of society as it seeks to apply the advantages of modern Information and Communication Technologies in its operation. This introductory Academic brief aims to provide a general introduction to the proposed Citiedge University. The Proprietor, vision, philosophy, objectives, strategies for achieving the stated objectives and prospects for academic development.
The proprietor is Citiedge Resources Nigeria Limited incorporated and established on 12th July 2005 with past business achievements in Manufacturing in Oil mill industries ( Palm Oil & Palm kernel oil production and Crushing from 2001 to 2013), Dredging Operations at Imo River in Abia State, Onna in Akwa ibom and Eteo Eleme waters in River State from 2007 to 2017 and fabrication of Local dredgers.
Citiedge Resources Nigeria Limited is a major motor and heavy-duty Lubricants dealer and a major distributor from 2019 to 2021. Citiedge Resources Nigeria Limited has achieved so many business exploits too numerous to mention and with reputable multinational companies as associates with outstanding track records.
Citiedge Resources Nigeria Limited is the Proprietor of Citiedge Magnet International Schools registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission since 2018 existed at 34 Aba Owerri Road, Aba, Abia State existed shortly due to insecurity and will reopen in Abuja between September 2023/ September 2024.

It shall therefore develop a culture of participatory management and develop an environment conducive to teaching and learning for Staff and Students. As a philosophy the Citiedge University shall ensure excellence in teaching, learning, and research and community service. It is expected that its establishment shall herald a new quality University education by private providers.
It shall articulate the features of Citiedge University. The following which shall showcase the focus of the University stated as follows: Name, motto, logo and colours of the University. The prospects of the University will thus be projected amongst national and internationally highly reputed institutions. The University shall live up to the ideals of renowned fathers of education of by making University education pragmatic and using it to forge unity among the various communities in Nigeria.
The name of the University shall be ‘’Citiedge University ‘’ This name is derived from Citiedge Resources Nigeria Limited. The name implies that the proprietor of the University is desirous of building a University which shall be a center of excellence in learning with graduates who will be able to proffer solution of practical problems confronting them and the Nigerian society. Also to use their knowledge to lift the society off its problems in science and technology. The University named Citiedge University is to be recognized as an intellectual Center that draws on finer points of academic rigor, and breaking new grounds on frontier of Education, constructing academic bridges and superstructures upon which quality education can be erected and robust quality assurance system. Again the name Citiedge University depicts focus on accelerating Educational reforms in a way that makes a concrete and viable difference to reflect her vision.
The symbols of the logo of Citiedge University consist of a globe Open book, green vegetation The globe: The globe signifies reaching out to the whole world. Impacting the different Continents with our excellent culture. The open book:- This symbolizes our audacious resolve to focus on accelerating Education reforms through a high level of professionalism in research and learning. It equally symbolizes our commitment to provide quality education and to graduate, well rounded and well blended students vast in knowledge, skilled and committed to the highest ideals of educational ethical conducts. The green vegetation:- This symbolizes our commitment to creativity and entrepreneurial abilities. We desire to be trend setters in stimulating originality and creativity among our students. Creativity can produce distinctive capabilities that enhance long term competitive advantage.
Yellow: Is the colour of creativity, energy and Optimism. Creativity has been portrayed as a symbol in our logo, Energy and optimism symbolizes the strength, zeal, passion and Commitment to make delivery of our mission and vision. It portrays that we shall not succumb to paralysis of the will in implementation. Blue: This is the color of intuition, freedom, imagination, loyalty and wisdom. This symbolizes superiority and relevance of good reasoning in education. It portrays that we shall always hatch graduates who are not afraid to look into the future, who are morally fit, emotionally stable with maximum quotient of intellectual capacity that will enable them to aggressively intimidate challenges in their field of study and proffer solution to the practical problems confronting them and the world in general, having the ability to translate knowledge into practice. Green: This is the colour of vitality, growth, wealth, health and youthfulness. This symbolizes that we shall use education to dismantle barriers and create wealth. This portrays our real heartfelt contribution to education and a most tangible evidence of the spirit of excellence and service thus making a concrete and visible difference to reflect our vision.

This summarizes the symbols in the logo and colours which all synchronize with the philosophy, mission and vision of the University. With these being the critical impression points of the proposed University, it is hoped and expected that the graduate of the University will have excellence as a normal culture with high ethical standards in personal and professional life and will have a high sense of responsibility, self confidence and self employability.
